Tottenham join Manchester United in tracking Ben Godfrey

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined Manchester United in monitoring highly-rated Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old played a key role for the Canaries in their Championship title-winning campaign last year, impressing Spurs scouts with his dominant displays.

Manchester United are also tracking the youngster after former Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand recommended the player to his former side.

Godfrey, who joined Norwich from York City back in 2016, has also been capped by England at Under-20 level.

The report claims that Godfrey’s versatility is one of the reasons why both sides are tracking the player, with the defender also capable of filling in just in front of the back four in a holding midfield role.

A summer move away from Carrow Road for Godfrey looks unlikely, however, if either club makes a substantial offer, the Canaries could be tempted into cashing in on the player and could possibly look to loan the defender back for the upcoming season.
